Kestrel Nest Box (Ref - ECO KES) Price £110

ECO Kestrel Box for Kestrel Conservation
ECO Kestrel Box for Kestrel Conservation

Built for kestrels and designed to last.

This ECO Kestrel Nest Box is made from field-tested recycled Stokbord — a strong, weather-resistant material proven to outlast traditional plywood nest boxes in the British climate.

Unlike timber boxes that deteriorate over time, this durable design provides a long-lasting nesting site, reducing the cost and disruption of replacements.

  • Excellent thermal protection during extreme heat
  • Well ventilated for healthy nesting conditions
  • Durable recycled material built for UK weather
  • Extended side wall panels with an open-fronted entrance allow easy entry for feeding young while providing shelter
  • Suitable for indoor locations, although outdoor installation is often preferred by kestrels

The design and materials are safe for kestrels and provide ideal roosting and nesting conditions.

Built by a conservation charity you can trust.

Since 1997, we have worked closely with wild owls and kestrels throughout the UK. Our nest boxes are used nationwide and provide safe nesting sites for:

  • Barn Owls
  • Tawny Owls
  • Little Owls
  • Kestrels

Every box reflects decades of conservation experience and practical field knowledge, developed through our close work with farmers, landowners and wildlife projects.

Suitable installation locations:

  • Trees
  • Inside barns and agricultural buildings
  • External gable end walls
  • Quiet rural structures

Kestrel Nest Box Placement Guide

Habitat location
Kestrels prefer open countryside with rough grassland and habitat corridors alongside hedgerows and natural stone walls, where they hunt voles and small mammals.

Recommended height
Install between 12–16 ft (4–5 metres) above ground.

Direction to face
Face the entrance north-east or south-east to avoid prevailing weather.

Visibility
Ensure the entrance is visible from a distance and not obstructed by foliage.

Safety considerations
Avoid placing nest boxes near busy roads, railway lines or high-traffic areas, as traffic can be a major threat to young kestrels.

Our nest box design

  • Spacious and comfortable interior
  • Built for longevity
  • Designed to blend naturally into the countryside

A fixing bracket is attached to the nest box. Installation instructions and fixings are included.
